This view commences on the right hand side with the Old Fort which at that time was at the town's northern extremity. To the left is a large building, Kirkman's factory, which failed in an attempt to introduce cotton manufacture into Liverpool. Next is the spire of St Nicholas's Church and the dome of St Paul's Church, then a line of houses in Denison Street at the extremity of the town northwards. Bathing machines can be seen on the shore south of the mill.
