On the left hand side is part of the Tower at the bottom of Water Street, with boats moored at the quayside. The archway opposite leads into the Custom House Yard. To its right is a small house which was used for offices. The Custom House with its five small windows, faces the river. It was demolished in 1785. To the left of the archway can be seen part of a private house said to have been the residence of Captain John Dawson, who captained the Carnatic in 1778.
