Having travelled up from Windsor, HM Queen Victoria arrived in Liverpool on Tuesday 11 May 1886, to open the Liverpool International Exhibition of Navigation, Travelling, Commerce and Manufactures. At 4pm the Queen arrived at the exhibition which was sited in the Kensington area of the city about a mile from where she was staying at Newsham House.
